for the residents of Avery Heights.

The water’s fine … at the Marjorie B. Doty Aquatic Center

Open in the summer of 2008, the aquatic center offers free swim times for Avery Heights residents, as well as a number of classes for a small fee.  Individuals from the outside community who are over 55 can purchas pool memberships.   For more information, contact Mark Modifica at (860) 527-9126 ext. 450.

Villager gift boutique at Avery Heights hosts spring events

Thursday, April 22 – Bijoux Beads by Carol Plona, featuring unusual beaded jewelry.

Saturday, May 1 & Sunday, May 2 – Spring Fling Fashion Show 11am to 4pm featuring Villager Volunteers ‘modeling’ spring fashions from the Villager.

Auxiliary Annual Meeting – April 26, 2010

The Avery Heights Auxiliary will hold their Annual Meeting on Monday, April 26, 2010 at 9am in The Heights Dining Room for all who were paid members from April 1, 2009 to March 31, 2010.  David Polk, Chairman of the Board of Directors will be the guest speaker and a new slate of Board members will be voted on.  The membership year runs from April 1 to March 31 of each year.

A full gourmet breakfast buffet will be served and tickets are $8.00 p/person    Annual membership dues are $5.00 p/person.  Membership renewals and invitations have gone out to last year’s members, and new members can register and purchase tickets for the breakfast by calling Norma Moskey at (860) 521-4567.

Avery Heights Auxiliary Membership Drive

The Auxiliary at Avery Heights has long been one of its most vibrant volunteer groups and a great source of support for recreational and entertainment activities for the residents.  The biggest fundraiser, the Rummage Sale, is held each spring and fall and donations of clothing, jewelry, furniture and accessories are taken each Wednesday morning between 9am and noon at the Health Care Center (off Newington Avenue).  

The Auxiliary is conducting its annual membership drive beginning April 1.  Please consider joining the Avery Heights Auxiliary in 2010.  Membership receive special mailing notices regarding Auxiliary activities with the payment of dues of $5.00 p/year.

The Villager gift shop at Avery Heights is now running a winter sale with all winter clothing items at 50% off and many other items in the store at 20%-50% off.  The shop features lovely boutique style clothing, jewelry, gifts, accessories, kitchen items, scents and more.

Friends & Family Dinner Dates at Avery House

On July 30 and August 20, friends and family of Avery Heights residents are invited to join their loved one for a price fixe dinner in the Avery House dining room.   Your full course meal will include entree choice of fish, poultry or meat, dessert and beverage.  Dinners begin at 6:00 pm and will be $15.00 p/p, residents at no charge.  To make reservations, please call 860-527-9126 ext. 321.
